thesis proposal

i am really excited about my thesis topic and would love feedback/thoughts/criticisms on my thesis proposal if anyone has time :) ...

what is the project?
The design proposed would be an inpatient pediatric healthcare unit intended to house children with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).  Ages of patients in the facility will range from birth-kindergarten.

who does it affect?
The design will affect medical staff, patients, and the patients' families.

why is it necessary?
Healthcare buildings should be built to be a place of healing, but many have been proven through research to be slowing down the healing process of patients.  As far as pediatric healthcare is concerned, many of these facilities are said to be designed for children simply because they use bright colors and have lots of toys.  Few pediatric healthcare designs take into consideration the development and cognitive processes of children and how the built environment affects them.

what is the significance of this project?
This project will create a hospital for terminally ill children that will hopefully create a design advances in this area of research.

what will your design response entail?
The design response will include an entire pediatric healthcare unit to be located within an existing hospital.  The design will respond to the needs of patients, patients' families, and the medical staff.  A large part of the project will pursue sustainability and environmental psychology.

what do you intend to do?
I intend to design a space in which children will be more prone to healing and not be afraid of the hospital.  I want this to be a space in which a kid can be a kid and their families will feel at ease.
