brainstorming

a reflection on chapters 4+5 from the art of innovation.

i found this to be such an encouraging and invigortaing reading.
it's interesting how the struggles we have with brainstorming in school still exist in the professional world.
it is very true that when we are asked to brainstorm or charette our ideas, we often look at it as a task or have a checklist of things that we need to come out of the session with, often making us dread and stress the time.
this book really encourages to have fun, to shift focus when things start to dwindle, and for everyone to be involved.
walls and tables covered in trace would really promote an atmosphere of creativity and brainstorming.
often in "brainstorming" we make lists and solid ideas, rather than talking as a group, building off one another and sketching our ideas.
it is important for everyone to be confident and not intimidated.
this reading is definitely going to help me as i work in studio!
